1350 KRNT Changes Morning and Mid-day Programming
DES MOINES, IA (January 5, 2012) — Beginning Monday, January 9, 2012 Jeff Rollins and Carl Hampton will join the 1350 KRNT air-staff from their respective studios in California and Colorado, replacing personalities Calvin Bierman and Mary Day.
The personalities may change, but the music remains the same. KRNT will continue to be the station “Where the Legends Live,” playing standards and classics from Frank Sinatra, Olivia Newton John, Rod Stewart and more.
“Programming changes are a natural part of our business. This actually gives us a better sound and allocates our staff resources more efficiently,” said Scott Allen, Operations Manager for Des Moines Radio Group. “Still, people worry when their favorite station changes, I get that. KRNT will still be delivering the music our listeners are used to, along with local news, local weather and local traffic reports. Calvin and Mary each wear many hats at Des Moines Radio Group. While they’ve each hosted programs on KRNT for only two years, Calvin has been with us for nearly 24 years and Mary 15 years. They aren’t going anywhere.”
Cal Bierman and Mary Day will each do their last shifts on KRNT tomorrow, January 6, 2012 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

HITS is on the Move to 99.9 FM
Des Moines, IA – Fans of Eminem, Rihanna and Kanye West now have a new home in Des Moines as HITS 105.9 has moved down the dial to 99.9 FM.
When the station that housed the popular format was sold to Iowa Public Radio, many fans were going to be left without a radio station to hear their favorite music. Saga Communications of Iowa, LLC stepped up and moved the radio station to its new home at 99.9 FM.
The station debuted this morning at 9 a.m., and has a steady diet of R&B, Dance and Hip-Hop…and doing it commercial free.
"People in Des Moines want this," says Scott Allen, Operations Manager of the Des Moines Radio Group. "This is their time and HITS 99.9 is their station."
